My favorite movie seen this summer was undoubtedly, The Great Gatsby. Directed by Baz Luhrmann, the movie is staged in the fictional town of West Egg on the prosperous Long island in the summer of 1922. Young Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) is drawn to New York because of boom in stocks and lands himself next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio). Intrigued by his neighbor, Nick is suddenly drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness within and without of the world he inhabits, he writes a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams, and tragedy.....
Jordan Baker (Elizabeth Debicki) was my favorite character from the movie. Every time she was on screen I was instantly drawn her and what she was wearing.
I adored her taste in outfit selections and was extremely inspired by them for both fashion and home.
I felt that she had two styles presented in the film, classic 1920s vs an edgy art deco look
split up by day and night.
1920s CHIC
Here we see Jordan sporting her pearls in a modern twist on the classic 1920s look.
Her outfit is modern, sporty, and still maintains that classic feel
The same can be achieved in the home
In the bedroom with the gold chandelier and curtains bring about an expensive feel
The brown tones create a warm sense of richness and white furniture retains classicism
Try updating your bathroom by adding in a rustic gold mirror
or a chic lighting piece
For a subtle approach mix white furniture with gold accent pieces
You can buy simple piece like wall plaques, flower bouquets, storage pieces or books to help tie your design together. For more info about these particular pieces click HERE

ART DECO
At night we see a whole different side of Jordan. Gone are the pearls and instead we see a diamond crusted necklace and a revealing black evening dress.
Not to mention her head piece. Absolutely stunning.
This outfit embodies Hollywood glamour, edge, and art deco come to life.
Here you see the same thing in this space. Try mixing gold accent pieces in the space for glamour with angular prints and geometric modeling metal finishes to create an urban art deco feel
You can cut glass or paint geometric prints to give your space a new feel
or take a more classic approach with the white
Try incorporating these items into your next design plan
Use stencils to update your walls
or reconstruct your furniture
